A big, fluffy pancake that cooks in no time!

A Dutch baby is the perfect breakfast for those busy mornings where you have a to do list a mile long and are craving something savory without a lot of fuss. Once it’s popped into the oven for 20 minutes your hands are free to knock off those mundane chores you've been putting off. I love to play the game of "how many things can I accomplish before the timer dings". The dishes usually get loaded into the dishwasher, counters wiped down, beds are made and on a good day, the homeschool lesson gets done! But the real reason Dutch Babys begin popping up in our breakfast rotation is because our hens are in laying season and I'm at a loss of what to do with all the eggs. Did I mention, you need six eggs for this recipe!
A Dutch Baby is something my kids look forward to for breakfast. Made with just three ingredients, flour, milk and eggs, its an easy, low cost breakfast that everyone loves. We serve ours with berries on top, syrup or honey and sometimes add vanilla in for some more flavor! The Dutch Baby goes every time it's made as my kids munch on left overs throughout the morning.
Their favorite morning sound is the blender, when they hear it, they know a Dutch Baby is for breakfast.
Dutch Baby
Ingredients
1 1/2 cup of milk
1 1/2 cup of flour
6 eggs
splash of vanilla extract - optional
Directions
Preheat oven to 425*. Add 2-3 TBSP of butter or oil to a cast iron pan and let it heat up in the oven.
Add all ingredients into a blender. (linked here is our favorite one!) Blend until well mixed.
Once oven is preheated, pour the mixture into the preheated cast iron pan (linked is our favorite one!)
Cook for 20 minutes. Although it may be tempting, do not open the oven while the Dutch Baby is cooking, this can cause the dutch baby to fall flat.
Admire your creation! It'll never look the same twice!
Optional - Top with your favorite in season berries & maple syrup. Serve and Enjoy!
